BSNL announces that has launched new local tariff and free roaming for BSNL GSM postpaid and prepaid customers in seven states of the north east region which includes arunachal pradesh, Assam, Nagaland, Manipur, Megalaya, Tripura and Mizoram. Based on official announcement dated 12th august 2009, from 1st september 2009 onwards north east region BSNL GSM postpaid and prepaid subscribers will enjoy the benefits of free roaming facility.

Department of Telecommunications (DoT), amending the earlier provision of three Licensed Service Areas (LSA) for NE, has created a single billing zone for the region for BSNL. All outgoing calls, SMS and GPRS Data charges while Roaming will be charged as per the Local home tariff and Incoming calls while Roaming in all 7 states. Incoming calls while roaming will be free.
