Get Ready to Switch Your Mobile Service Provider - Mobile Number Portability Available from Dec 31 - 2009Department of telecommunications yesterday (3rd September 2009) announced that implementation of Mobile number portability (MNP) is extended upto 31 December 2009. Earlier DoT expected to kick starts mobile number portability from 30 September 2009. But due to some technical and commercial issues not completed by mobile service providers. Therefore, it has been decided by, the department to extend the date of implementation of mobile number portability in metro and category ‘A’ service areas to 31st December 2009 in the first phase.

Accordingly the Mobile number portability is likely to available by end 2009 to begin with Delhi, Mumbai, Maharashtra, Gujrat, Andhra pradesh, Tamilnadu including Chennai and Karnataka service areas.
