Earlier DoT expected to kick starts mobile number portability from 30 September 2009. But due to some technical and commercial issues not completed by mobile service providers. Therefore, it has been decided by, the department to extend the date of implementation of mobile number portability in metro and category ‘A’ service areas to 31st December 2009 in the first phase.
